Fifty three residents were killed this Wednesday, including women, children and two defected soldiers. Hundreds of civilians were wounded in gunfire and shelling attacks; several are in serious condition.
Al-Assad’s forces opened fire on civilians in Zamalka killing three children, launched assault attacks with the support of tanks on different neighborhoods in Zamlka and Qatana, set homes on fire in Dumair and looted personal properties in Attal. Military forces continued indiscriminate aerial bombardment and shelling at a rate of shell/minute. They shelled residential areas with MiG fighter jets and military helicopters killing and injuring civilians and destroying homes and infrastructures. Zamalka was declared a disaster area due to continual shelling for three days in a row.
Hundreds of families fled their homes fearing new massacres like the one committed recently by Al-Assad’s forces in Dareyyah. The humanitarian condition is deteriorating across the suburban area as residents suffer a severe shortage in the most needed supplies such as medications and bread.
