Saturday, August 11, 2012
Twenty nine citizens were killed, including a woman and a child, and hundreds of citizens were wounded by regime forces in Damascus Suburbs this Saturday. Three victims from the same family were killed during indiscriminate shelling on homes in Jessreen. A child from Attal and a woman and her relative from Deir Al’assafeer were killed by regime forces as their families were trying to flee the besieged cities in search of a refuge, and other family members were also wounded.
Al-Assad’s snipers stationed on rooftops and at security checkpoints opened indiscriminate fire on peaceful civilians in their vehicles. Regime militias, supported by tanks, launched brutal assault and detention raids on neighborhoods, detained dozens of residents and wounded others. The regime’s military laid siege to Attal and Deir Al’assafeer, flew helicopters overhead and launched shelling attacks on residential areas, killing civilians and destroying homes. The humanitarian condition is deteriorating rapidly and hundreds of families fled their hometowns, fearing further ruthless attacks by regime forces.
