Revolutionary Command Council in Damascus Suburbs / Daily Report
Wednesday, July 18, 2012
Eighteen casualties were reported in the Damascus Suburbs on Wednesday, including a woman, three children and one defected soldier. Victims were killed during snipers’ shooting and shelling attacks on residential areas while one victim was tortured to death in the custody of the regime forces. Dozens of injuries, including children, were reported during indiscriminate shelling attacks; several residents are in critical condition as a result.
Rural Damascus was a real battlefield on Wednesday. Regime forces on rooftops and at security checkpoints opened heavy and indiscriminate gunfire to terrorize civilians and sealed all routes leading to the capital. Al-Assad’s military forces deployed security reinforcements across the suburban area and shelled residential areas using warplanes, tanks and heavy artillery. The shelling attacks triggered massive explosions and set homes, businesses and farms on fire. There are reports that the regime’s air force targeted mourners in a funeral in Assaydeh Zainab and Pro-Assad militias slaughtered civilians in a new massacre in Bait Sahm.
